Biography:
AFL CAREER NOTES
• Played six seasons (2003-08) in the AFL with the Colorado Crush, the Nashville Kats and the Grand Rapids Rampage.
• Set a Grand Rapids record and personal best with 97.5 tackles in 2008.
• Tied a Rampage mark with six interceptions in 2008, and set team records in interception return yards in a game (58 against the New York Dragons on April 5) and in a season (79).
• One of only three players to start all 16 regular-season games for the Rampage in 2008.
• Led the Rampage in 2008 with 18 pass breakups, a career mark.
• Selected third overall by the Rampage in the 2007 AFL dispersal draft after Nashville folded following the 2007 season.
• Named to the 2007 All-AFL First Team after leading the league with 13 interceptions for the Kats.
• Totaled 10.5 tackles against the Crush on April 1, 2007, a single-season high for the Kats.
• Picked off Austin Wranglers quarterbacks three times on March 24, 2007, running one back for a touchdown.
• Had his best offensive year in 2006, logging 45 catches for 443 yards with the Crush, including a team season-long 48-yard reception.
• Returned a missed field goal 56 yards for a touchdown against the Georgia Force on February 5, 2006, while with the Crush.
• Named Defensive Player of the Game after helping the Crush capture ArenaBowl XIX, 51-48, over the Force on June 12, 2005.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL NOTES
• Participated in training camp with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2002.
• Captured the 2002 World Bowl with the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europa.
• Attended training camp with the Chiefs and the Atlanta Falcons in 2001.
COLLEGE/PERSONAL NOTES
• Four-year letterwinner at the University of Virginia (1997-2000) at the wide receiver and cornerback positions.
• Led the Cavaliers with four interceptions as a senior in 2000.
• Caught a 47-yard game-winning touchdown pass from Aaron Brooks against Virginia Tech on Nov. 28, 1998, capping a 22-point second-half comeback often noted as the greatest in Cavaliers history.
• Attended Hampton (Va.) High School and left as the school’s all-time leading receiver and second in Virginia High School League history.
• Hampton’s quarterback was current NFL receiver Ronald Curry.
• Won two Class AAA state championships while at Hampton.
• Standout in baseball and track, setting a school record with 40 stolen bases as a freshman and winning state titles in the 100- and 200-meter competitions.
