Biography:
AFL CAREER NOTES
• Played two seasons (2007-08) in the AFL with the Georgia Force and the Grand Rapids Rampage.
• Took over as Grand Rapids’ starter in Week 3 of the 2008 season and finished fifth overall in touchdowns thrown (87), second in average yards per pass attempt (8.45) and first in passing touchdown percentage (18.6%).
• In 2008, 119.3 passer rating marked second highest total in Rampage single-season history.
• Became the third quarterback in Rampage history to rush for over 100 yards (120) in a single season in 2008.
• First member of the Rampage to earn two AFL Offensive Player of the Week awards in a single season in 2008 (Week 4 and Week 15).
• On June 7, 2008, set a Grand Rapids record with 10 passing touchdowns against the Colorado Crush.
• Led all 2008 AFL postseason quarterbacks in completions (90) and attempts (130) and ranked second in passing yards (925).
• Named the AFL Offensive Player of the Month for June 2008 after completing 73.8% of his passes, averaging 310 yards per game and totaling 26 overall touchdowns.
• Served as backup to All-AFL First Team quarterback Chris Greisen in all 16 regular-season games in 2007 with the Force.
OTHER PROFESSIONAL NOTES
• Played one season (2006) with the arenafootball2’s Green Bay Blizzard.
• In 11 games with the Blizzard in 2006, completed 163 of 243 passes for 2,241 yards and 36 touchdowns.
• Rushed 28 times for 44 yards and four scores for the Blizzard in 2006.
• In 2003, briefly served as a backup quarterback for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts after participating in the team’s training camp.
COLLEGE/PERSONAL NOTES
• Four-year (1999-2002) letterwinner at Wake Forest University.
• Named to the Academic All-Atlantic Coast Conference Team as a senior in 2002.
• Completed 349 of 639 passes for 4,716 yards, which ranked seventh all-time in Wake Forest history.
• Named MVP of the Seattle Bowl in 2002 after completing nine of 16 passes for 241 yards and two touchdowns against the University of Oregon.
• Earned All-Southern Arizona honors as both a quarterback and a punter at Mountain View (Ariz.) High School.
• All-region selection as a shortstop and pitcher in high school.
• Named a “Scholar-Athlete” by the Arizona Interscholastic Association in high school. |
